Imberhorne & Baldwins Neighbourhood Panel - Actions & Achievements

Action has been taken on the following neighbourhood priorities:

  • Anti social behaviour
  • Abandoned cars
  • Litter
  • Street furniture needs
  • Control of dogs in recreation grounds
  • HGV vehicles from Charlwood Road Industrial Estate using residential roads for turning
  • Speeding cars in residential areas
  • Dog bins
  • Pot holes
  • Overhanging branches
  • Lamp posts not working

The Panel has also been very active in promoting and facilitating neighbourhood projects:

  • Members of the panel have liaised with the Halsford Park Primary school council and collected ideas from the children on how to improve their local area.
  • The Neighbourhood Panel supplied every primary school child with a fluorescent safety arm band.  Children from Halsford Park, Baldwins Hill, St Peters and St Marys were presented with their arm bands by the Town Mayor.  At the presentations the Police Community Support Officers reminded the children of the need for safety on the journey to and from school. Over one thousand arm bands were presented.  The funds for the arm bands were donated by Cllr Christine Mainstone, Cllr Bernard Gillbard, Cllr Lee Marmara and Cllr Bob Mainstone from their ward budgets.
  • The Neighbourhood Panel developed an idea from local school children for a combined schools garden in a public place.  The children wanted an area they could tend and look after and their efforts would be seen and appreciated by the public.  Meetings were held with Environment Officers from Mid Sussex District Council who gave the idea their full support.  Designs were drawn up for the schools garden to be the first part of the development of the future play area on the Lingfield Road Recreation ground.  The gardens have now been planted by the school children  and they became an important part of the town’s entry into the South East in Bloom Competition
  • New litter bins were provided by the Town Council in areas identified by the Neighbourhood Panel

  • A “Beat Sweep” in part of Baldwins Ward was organised by PCSO George Lock. It included an Environmental Audit by EGTC, an estate inspection, a surgery for residents with PCSO; “Clean and Green” Litter pick, clamping untaxed vehicles and late night patrols.
  • The Imberhorne / Baldwins Neighbourhood Panel has created its own web site
The panel has also organised a direct phone contact for residents
